I am at the age where I am typically not swayed by company claims of greatness or magical cures when it deals with my skincare or even house hold cleaners. But, for the first time in years I was tempted to try a product called Micellar Water.
I'm not sure why I was so interested in trying out something that seemed like regular old tap water? It certainly wasn't the scientific information listed of how the little ball shaped molecules have lipophilic ends that cling to dirt and oil and hydrophilic ends that cling to water. Scientific claims don't always interest me, and actually confuse me. Just look at the photo above, not exactly an exciting picture for selling skin care! So that is why I test things out, as it is the proof that interests me.
While having lunch with a friend whom I had not seen for a few months, I could not get past how her skin looked so healthy and dare I say....glowing. She wears my powder foundation, Cashmere to be exact. But, something had changed in her skin. It was as if she wasn't wearing as much foundation as she used to, I could actually see some freckles I never noticed before.
The conversation quickly ended about kids, family blah blah blah......and quickly turned to whats up with her skin? Those of you who know me personally, know I don't typically talk about work or my makeup line unless directly asked. I need a break from work too! She smiled at me and said "I have been using this water stuff and love it." She said she even uses it before bed! I have told her for years to wash her makeup off before bed, even if its a quick swipe of cleanser or toner. When she told me what she was using I was skeptical but, her face wasn't lying! As soon as I got home I ordered up some samples and am happy to say after just a week, my skin has never looked better!
Not only does my skin have a more even skin tone, but I have had these raised acne dry patches on my chin for years. They would flair up every month during my period and then just be lumpy, dry and flaky for the rest of the month. Yep, it is true one is totally gone and the other has just about disappeared. I wish I would have taken a before and after to prove it. I would say within the next week, the one on the left is a goner! I don't want to get carried away with claims, but I think my pores may even be smaller!
So, I of course decided to source out some different manufactures of Micellar and was shocked at the price difference in some of them. One was actually $150.00 per 2oz. Yeah not testing out that one! The lowest was $7 but that contained a lot of witch hazel and added chemicals and the other one I refused to try contained castor oil! Um no, I will pass on that one too!
